Meet Eric
Eric Garcia is the former City Councilmember for Ward 1, having served from March 2022 to December 2023. He is a Colorado native and has been a Thornton Ward 1 resident for 17 years along with his wife of 25 years and 3 daughters. For more than 20 years, Eric has passionately served his community both nationally and internationally uniting and empowering local communities, business, schools, Non-profits and faith organizations. He served in Denver, CO as a local Pastor focusing on marginalized communities with a heartfelt approach to engage and unite community.
Eric's Priorities
Improve Public Safety
Eric's top priority has always ensuring the safety of our neighborhoods and communities where all our residents feel safe! As former Ward 1 Councilman, Eric voted yes for more recruitment for our Police, better pay, benefits and ensuring 4 person engine staffing for our Fire personnel. Thornton is fortunate to have professional police, fire and first responders who serve and live in our city. We need to continue to retain, promote and recruit the very best to serve Thornton!

& Families
The fabric of our communities is being threatened by division, which is alienating our kids. We need to rebuild faith in our communities and in our families and bring our communities back together through events, safe gather places that promote unity and opportunities for us to succeed.
Revitalization of South Thornton
As the northern portion of Thornton grows and thrives, residents of Ward 1 feel left behind. We need to create a city where we can gather, work, and play, which requires revitalization in South Thornton. Eric is committed to developing a community-driven vision for reinvestment in the area, promoting small businesses, and attracting new local restaurants, cultural centers, and entrepreneurs to the Thornton Shopping Center.
